A class in motion at MVMT Studio, dancing together in the movement room

Classes

Intentionally diverse — movement, functional training, mat practices, martial arts and more. Diversity strengthens and balances the body, keeps the mind engaged, and builds a deeper understanding of how you move.

Movement

  • MVMT Strength

Our signature class, developed to honour a huge spectrum of dynamic strength and flow. The connective tissue of the studio, bringing foundational strength, calisthenic skills, loaded mobility and play together in one practice. Foundational strength and calisthenic skills build the base, then loaded mobility trains the full range a joint and muscle can move, building a body that's supple, elastic and dynamic. These isolated components are then woven into creative flow patterns, speaking the language people already know, getting stronger in a way they recognise, while building something wider underneath it. Isolation sets the foundation, and integration is what lets you use your body with purpose, with agility and spontaneity.

  • Mixed Movement

A class that explores what your body is actually capable of, from sensitivity to strength. We build mobility and purpose while training how your nervous system responds to dynamic movement, through educational and informed principles combined with the medium of floorwork, rolls and soft acrobatics to sharpen coordination and skill. Strong flow and improvisation develop fluency through the shoulders, spine and hips across their full range. Partnering elements let the room co-create and learn from each other. Open to complete beginners through to seasoned movers.

  • Gaga Dance

Gaga classes offer a framework to connect to your body and imagination, experience physical sensations, improve flexibility and stamina, exercise agility and explosive power, and enjoy the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. Participants are guided by a series of evocative instructions that increase awareness of and amplify sensation, layering into a multi-sensory, physically challenging experience.

Functional

  • Lift Lab

An intelligent resistance training class for all levels. Using barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, rings, and parallettes, we follow a periodised structure that builds strength, muscle, and resilient tissue. The focus is on developing confidence in your technique, so you're training without fear of doing it wrong or getting hurt, while still getting a serious workout. Strengthening joints and tissues this way builds a body that responds to whatever you ask of it, supporting everything from running to yoga to Pilates and beyond.

  • Calisthenics

A discipline of bodyweight mastery for all levels. We build isolation into integration, and integration into the advancement and mastery of complex skills, developing the micro techniques behind your first pull up and other foundational skills, which in turn become the building blocks for more advanced work. Running through all of it is the kinetic chain of strength, understanding how dynamic body tension holds your structure together in an empowering way, expressed across rings, parallettes, high bars, and floor skills. This is the true foundation of Calisthenics as a discipline.

  • Calisthenics: Reps & Sets

The foundations of Calisthenics for all levels, building strength and resilience through high volume, low demand on the technical elements, across rings, parallettes, high bars, and floor skills. This allows for progressive overload of the muscles, getting stronger in a more efficient and safer way. It's also great for maintenance and conditioning, as well as the strength building counterpart to Skills, where the tricks, holds, and dynamic elements live.

  • Calisthenics: Skills

A glossary of skills lives within Calisthenics, including muscle ups, handstands, front and back levers, that act as a North Star for creativity and goal setting within the discipline. This class exposes you to them in an intelligent, progressive way across rings, parallettes, high bars, and floor skills. It isn't mutually exclusive to Reps & Sets, just another angle into the discipline, one heavily demanding on coordination and technique. Lower volume, higher load, powerful holds, and a community supporting one another within the intensity of it.

  • Handstands

A playful, all-levels exploration of the handstand journey. The class prioritises building confidence and trust, learning to enter the handstand and learning how to move out of it safely from any direction. This is usually the first and longest lasting speed bump, so our signature style addresses this first, then moves into skill specific drills to refine your shape, from discovering your first 5 second freestanding handstand and beyond. We can explore anything from your first kick up to the wall through to learning the press handstand, depending on individual experience level.

  • HIIT & Play

A cardio class with a twist. We train across aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, but the play element keeps your mind sharp and present at peak intensity. Playful challenges cut through mental resistance, build camaraderie, and keep the brain firing on multiple layers. Expect to sweat, work hard, and play hard.

  • Flexibility

A full-system flexibility class that goes beyond passive stretching. We combine active and passive range techniques to build flexibility you truly own, strengthening tissues at end range for lasting, injury-resistant mobility. Sessions are sometimes themed by area, sometimes holistic. Always intelligent, always varied within the consistency, and in service of longevity.

Martial Arts

  • Jiu Jitsu

The fundamentals of grappling, practised both in the gi and without. We focus on body mechanics, learning how leverage, frames and hip movement help with control and escapes. It is a dynamic movement environment that teaches physical and mental skills that carry well beyond the mat. The room is fun and friendly, open to all levels, no experience or previous martial arts needed.

  • Capoeira Angola

An Afro-Brazilian martial art, played rather than fought, to live music and song. Born from African slaves in Brazil, it became a way to resist oppression, build community, and reclaim strength. At MVMT Studio we practice Capoeira Angola, the more traditional form, played close to the ground with an emphasis on stealth. Capoeira has an intricate language of movement unique to itself, exposing you to a depth of moving and relating to another person that few other practices offer. It's spontaneous, agile, and reinforces your strengths while refining your blind spots. Expect the ginga as the foundation, along with kicks, dodges, feints, and acrobatic movement. Some sessions bring in the history and the music itself, playing traditional instruments like the berimbau, atabaque, and pandeiro. Open to all levels, no experience necessary.

Mat Practices

  • Dynamic Vinyasa

A practice where yoga meets strength, mobility and flow in a class built across disciplines, not confined to one. Expect creative transitions, playful sequences and shapes that offer practitioners both familiarity and novelty. These classes remain rooted in the philosophy of wisdom tradition whilst meeting modern minds and bodies where they are at.

  • Pilates

A practice built on control, precision and breath, strengthening the deep core and stabilising muscles. What makes this class distinct is how it weaves progressive flows through the discipline, sequences that build and connect rather than sit as isolated exercises, letting you tap into and sustain a flow state through the structure of the class itself. Blocks, dumbbells and resistance bands are brought in through the session. Expect low impact, high control work that builds strength from the inside out, with the precision Pilates is known for.

  • Barre

A ballet-inspired class done entirely on the floor, no barre required. Small pulsing movements and isometric holds target the legs, glutes and core with precision. Sequences are built on creativity and repetition, finding new angles into the same muscles so the body stays engaged, not just tired. Props are sometimes used to add variety and challenge. Low impact but demanding, building strength and control from the ground up.

  • Hips & Hamstrings

A dedicated practice for one of the body's most important junctions, where mobility, stability, and full physical capacity meet. We explore the hips and hamstrings through both flexibility and mobility work, building range of motion and the strength to support it through an intelligent, informed practice. Grounded, mat-based, and accessible to all levels, whether you're flexible and looking to build strength, or building towards range of motion you don't yet have. Expect props when they serve the session.

  • Yin & Release

A practice mainly predicated on asana, with long held postures working the connective tissue through time and gravity rather than effort. Intelligently woven through is restorative work, trigger point self massage drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a meditative element using imagery to land in the liminal space, away from what the world asks of you all day. The aim is a shift in the nervous system, out of constant activation and into genuine rest.

Kids

  • Kids Breakin'

Led by Vanessa, Portuguese Olympic athlete and representative at breaking's historic Olympic debut, this class brings world-class experience to young movers. Kids build coordination, playful strength, and social connection through the art of breaking, a creative, energising practice that gives children a space to express themselves.

  • Kids Jiu Jitsu

Led by our resident Gracie Academy black belt, this class teaches children to move confidently, protect themselves, and connect with others, all through play and gamification. Jiu Jitsu builds self-empowerment, social bonds, and body awareness in a space that keeps kids engaged, challenged, and coming back.
