The movement room at MVMT Studio, rings and tiled pillars under warm ceiling lighting

FAQs

The things people ask us most. If your question is not here, ask the Front of House team or write to us — we would rather answer twice than leave you guessing.

Classes

  • What is Mixed Movement?

Mixed Movement is a class that explores what your body is actually capable of, from sensitivity to strength. We build mobility and purpose while training how your nervous system responds to dynamic movement, through educational and informed principles combined with the medium of floorwork, rolls and soft acrobatics to sharpen coordination and skill.

Strong flow and improvisation develop fluency through the shoulders, spine and hips across their full range. Partnering elements let the room co-create and learn from each other. Open to complete beginners through to seasoned movers.

  • Is jiu jitsu OK for beginners, and what do I need to bring?

Our jiu jitsu classes are open level. If you are trying it for the first time, gi hire is free. After that it is €10 a session to rent one, and we can point you to a good place to buy your own.

For no-gi classes, wear clothes you can grapple in.

  • Are the classes in English?

Yes, all our classes are in English. English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German are all spoken in the space. Movement is our common language.

  • Do I need shoes?

We keep the studio free from shoes and phones to keep everyone grounded and present. Shoes are not needed for training — we train barefoot, and sometimes in socks for Mixed Movement, Gaga and dance classes.

The exception is HIIT & Play, which occasionally trains out on the stairs. Bring trainers for that one.

  • Do I need to arrive early, and how do I check in?

Arrive five minutes before class, or five to ten minutes if it is your first time — say hi to the Front of House team and they will give you a tour of the space.

Booking through Momence or ClassPass is self check-in: there is an iPad in the right-hand corner of the studio room, and you tick your name on the screen at the start of class. On UrbanSports Club, the QR code is by the window in the café.

Recovery Room & Functional Area

  • How do I book a Recovery Room session?

Recovery sessions run on the timetable like classes — pick a time on the Recovery schedule and book it. You will need a Momence account to confirm.

  • How do I book a Functional Area session?

The Functional Area runs on appointments rather than a timetable. Choose a session type, pick from the available times and book directly.

  • What do I need to bring for sauna and cold plunge?

    Towels are provided. Bring swimwear.

  • What temperature are the cold plunges?

We have two. One is typically 7–8°C, the other 10–11°C.

  • Are sauna and cold plunge sessions guided?

No. The team can give you some tips if it is your first time using the sauna and cold plunge.

  • How does check-in work for recovery?

Come to the front desk and the Front of House team will check you in directly, whether you booked with us, on ClassPass or on UrbanSports Club.

You will need an access band to get into the Recovery Room. So that everyone remembers to return it, the team will ask you to leave something in the safe box — something shiny: a phone, keys, headphones, a bank or metro card.

Our café corner is run by our friends at Aura, Lisbon’s wellness and juice bar. Adaptogen smoothies, cold-pressed juices, matcha, coffee, and a breakfast and lunch menu with vegan options throughout.

  • Can I bring my dog?

We have a friendly dogs policy. Friendly, calm and well socialised dogs are welcome to stay in the café area while you train. Three barks and you are out — we kindly ask owners to take dogs home if they are disrupting the class or the café.
